Although diet drugs do not usually build severe dependence, this is not the case for Didrex. Overdosing on the Didrex diet pill entails serious problems.
This diet drug is an appetite suppressant, which is used in combination with a healthy eating program, exercise, and behavior therapy for the short-term management of obesity. Didrex is also known as an “anorexic” or “anorexigenic” drug. The Didrex diet pill stimulates the central nervous system (brain and nerves). It is similar to amphetamines. It is therefore less safe than diet medication based on Phentermine, as well as being more addictive.
Proper use
This diet pill should be taken only by medical prescription. Didrex works best if taken 30 minutes before a meal. The last dose must be taken four to six hours before bedtime.
Side effects
Restlessness, nervousness, difficulty sleeping and dry mouth (usually all of them) appear in the first week after taking the Didrex diet pill.
Dependence
Taking Didrex results in habit formation. Dependence on this diet pill is inevitable. “Patients” become physically and psychologically addicted to this medication, and may suffer withdrawal effect when they abandon it. To avoid or control unwanted symptoms when this medicine is abandoned, give the human body a chance to recuperate.
Precautions
General
Avoid taking this diet drug with any “stimulant” such as caffeine and decongestants.
Before starting
Inform the doctor about any other medication, particularly about high blood-pressure medicines, MAO inhibitors (such as furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), or any other weight loss medication. Alcohol, coffee and any decongestants are forbidden, as they might worsen side effects. Children must not take diet drugs. Pregnant women must avoid them, unless there is a clear need.
Overdose
An overdose of Didrex poses an extremely high risk for patients.

- Tremor
- Rapid breathing
- Confusion and dizziness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea along with stomach cramps
Each of them is an alarming sign. The doctor or the appropriate emergency service should be summoned immediately.
Missed dose
One missed dose is not a problem. Do not make up for it and take the next scheduled dose.
