The Xenical approach to weight loss
Two aspects serve to differ the Xenical diet pill from other diet pills:
- It is very effective in further maintaining the weight-loss goal already achieved. Anyone who has undertaken a dietary program knows that lost pounds usually return afterwards. Weight is as easily lost as gained.
- It must be coupled with taking a multivitamin.
There are several health benefits, highly appreciated by both doctors and patients:
- Xenical decreases blood pressure often associated with obesity or overweight.
- It decreases insulin level.
- It decreases the risk, or delays the progression, of type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin-dependent).
- It increases the ratio of LDL (the “bad” cholesterol; a high level in the blood is thought to be related to various pathogenic conditions) to HDL (the “good” cholesterol; a high level in the blood is thought to lower the risk of coronary artery disease).
- It decreases the total of bad cholesterol.
As a way of losing weight, Xenical medication works through a complicated mechanism:
- It inhibits fat absorption in the digestive tract. Enzymes in the digestive system (known as gastric and pancreatic lipase) contribute to breaking down the fat. When taken with daily meals, the Xenical capsule attached itself to the gastric and pancreatic lipase and blocks them from breaking down a percentage of the ingested fats. The active ingredient of Xenical is Orlistat. Orlistat is related to Olestra, a fat substitute (introduced in some food products such as potato chips), and acts by slowing down the production of lipase. While not suppressing appetite, Orlistat instead blocks absorption of about one-third of the fat consumed.
- It does not impede the assimilation of carbohydrates and proteins. Thus, the body is not deprived of the nutrients it needs.
- It induces a deficit of calories, as the triglycerides pass through the intestinal lining without being absorbed as usual.
Correct use
120 milligrams of Xenical must be taken with liquid at each main fat-containing meal. Xenical diet pill is always recommended in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet. When taking Xenical, meals must include no more than about 30% of calories from fat.
Xenical has a notable effectiveness, as proved by comparison to a placebo plus diet:
- A Xenical study revealed that it provided twice the mean weight loss as placebo plus diet.
- This diet pill maintained weight loss better than placebo plus diet.
- The Xenical drug improve cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors better than placebo plus diet.
Side effects
Increased gas or flatulence appear immediately after taking Xenical drug. These symptoms disappear after a short period of time and are regularly linked to meals containing high levels of fat.
Precautions
Because of the elimination of undigested fats, bowel habits will be drastically changed, at least in the first days, perhaps for the first week or even longer. As a consequence of ingestion of Xenical medication, the absorption of supplements of some fat soluble nutrients, particularly beta-carotene and vitamin E, is destroyed. Only water-soluble nutrients are allowed. That is why a multivitamin is highly recommended in order to compensate for the lack of some essential vitamins.
General precautions
Refer to some dangerous allergy to Xenical or chronic malabsorption syndromes, such as steatorrhea. Xenical should not be taken by children, teenagers, pregnant and nursing women.
Before starting
This diet pill, inform the doctor about your medical history and evaluate your individual commitment and motivation. A reduced-calorie diet with no more than 30% calories from fat is the best choice, as recommended by the American Heart Association.
Missed dose
In the case of missed dose, take Xenical at the next fat-containing meal.
Additional Xenical information
Like many diet drugs, Xenical is available online. But a Xenical written prescription is required. Xenical online weight-loss medication has enjoyed great popularity since it provides safety and comfort. Many pharmaceutical companies produce Xenical.
